And anything that turns a legal weapon to a machine gun.

Smart move on his part. Doing something that really affects few.

And in all honesty, I have no problem with more stringent effort put into background checks. Not 'universal' background checks. That are a code word for registration. But putting some damn effort into it... and to starting to put some scrutiny on the retards and psychos... who everyone knows in advance... are possible shooters.

Used to be "he was so quiet... we never would have suspected." Now every time we hear "He was a total psycho and everyone knew he was going to go off..." But nobody does anything. Yes, this has to come in concert with due process, etc.

While we're at it... let's also enforce the laws on the books? Commit a crime with a gun... you're going to jail. Felon trying to buy? You're going to jail. In possession illegally? You're going to jail. No more revolving doors. We have plenty of laws. Let's not write more... while forgetting about the ones we've got.

Agreed. A bit of verification for the "you a drug abuser" and "are you crazy" questions would be helpful.

I can't change my uninteresting position of "Give Up Nothing", ever. I can't. Just like a CBA as a 21 yr (somewhat unwilling) Teamster. It all starts right here. Piece by piece like an annoying drip that slowly erodes everything in it's path. No. Not these useless stocks or anything else for that matter. Period.

Aaaaand winning. Absolutely enforce what's on the books. Commit a crime with a gun? Let's go a tad further. "MANDATORY" 10 yr enhancement, no negotiating that one away. Mandatory Minimum dime of down time. Goodtime, Trusty Time, Details and Programs all NO. Felon in Possession and/or Buying? Samezies. Dime o time, straight time. Let the Hammer drop, and hard, and let's see how that works.

If it doesn't hurt as a punitive sentence then why not continue the same behavior once released? There is not enough consequence at this time to deter recidivism. We know this already.

"Turn a legal weapon into a machine gun"

I hope that's the language they use in the "ban" because last time I checked bump stocks and the like do not make semi autos full auto.

I am ganna hope this is a careful choice of language much like what the NRA said after vegas. While everyone else was screaming ban them they said "we support REVIEWING these items." Of course everyone flipped out.

To the uniformed this looks like he's calling for a ban of them. But technically unless I'm mistaken they don't turn anything into a "machine gun"

Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I read that at first take.

ill hold my breath on this not being exploited. its all in how its worded i smell a supreme court battle becuase any change in this regultaion does not pass the smell test of constutuionality of what the NFA was to prevent. It will be interesting though to hear protectionists use the argument that had the drafters of the original NFA known about bumb stocks in the 30's they would have included such rate ncreasing devices. But the founders never meant to protect AR-15's right? SMDH. very disspointed in Trump over this. Bump stocks are retarded anyway. yeah i said it. RETARDED

Pure fucking politics. He's selling us out to garner shaky Dems and RINOs before the 2018 midterms. Ex post facto illegalization is over the line, but it's a line in this particular instance that others are willing to see crossed because they have no skin in the game.

Mark my words: ARs and AKs will go in order for the currently ruling (Obama's henchwoman Val had it right) individual to be the idol of soccer moms everywhere.

Boys, face it: in a historical context, we're the SA, and the long knives just came out.

BTW, the mandatory sentencing usually doesn't happen because of plea deals. Plea deals lead to convictions and make prosecutors look tough on crime. So, if a person committed a crime with a gun the defense attorney offers a deal to the prosector to get a more lenient sentence and since it doesn't go to trail the judge cannot add on time for committing a crime with a gun. That needs to be fixed

I keep a couple of bumpstocks that can go on my sbr's in case shit hits the fan.
They ruin accuracy but will hose a place down, use them to get rid of left over mixed ammo.
Backround checks, had security clearances 1978-2015 and nfa stuff for? 10 years.
Some shooters wont be effected, i worry more about what next .
I don't think bumpstocks will apease the shits.

Ah yes, i forgot we should all be so gracious they allow us to mostly exercise our rights.

God i dont know why black people bitched about segregation......there used to be a time when they were property.....they shouldve been thankful for the rights they had

Okay, so we are going down this road again. We know some of us love us some bumpstocks, others could give a rats ass. Snopes sez.......... *True* We know this can and will lead to other 'concessions', even unintended. Snopes sez.........*True*. Now taking the stand that bumpstocks cause us more problems than serviceable pleasure, are we willing to go to the mat for a fucking bumpstock? Uhm ya. I am. And I don't need Snopes to say so.

Give up nothing. *NOTHING*

First they came for my neighbors bump stock, and I said nothing... This is pure and simple political appeasement, that will only lead to more restrictions, until we end up like Australia. How does a "bump stock" turn anything into a machine gun? What about binary triggers...and for all of you who are fat, dumb, and happy, because you don't have a bump stock...what about match triggers? That light trigger weight and fast reset let me fire faster than a bump stock.

Let me clarify my stance on gun rights.

Any and all background checks = infringement

Restricting gun purchases of people who committed crimes and served their time for it (including probation) = infringement

ATF and the NFA act = infringement

Waiting periods = infringement

Registration of any firearm = infringement

Swift Capital Punishment would solve a lot of problems, so would a society that remains largely armed.

Sun Tzu Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

How many of you have ever even written your Congress with your feelings?

I ain’t here to fight. But I have a right to think differently than you.

A little historical perspective...the concept and specific language regarding regarding “The Right to bear arms” was written to keep the citizens of this new Republic on even ground with the government - context being the former rule of England over the Colonists. In short if the .gov can have them, so can “We the People” in order to keep us from getting into the same position pre-revolution.

Last I checked I don’t have an tank, Nuclear weapons etc. No concessions whatsoever, IMHO. Too much already, suppressors - SBRS - happy switch? All have been infringed.

I grew up in the North, but truth be told we are all suffering from Federalism vs States rights.

This should all be dealt with on the local level. People know these loony bins are (primarily in blue not red voting regions) and theses moron should be dealt with severity and alacrity.

Bump stocks? I think they are stupid - but not infringed upon. Mags, rate of fire, “sniper rifles” - how about we just go back to pitchforks vs muskets?

Man, many of us have lost friends due to violence - but it if was not accomplished with a firearm - then the perp would do it with a knife, rock or choke them to death.

Forget 10 year mandatory, shoot hem with the firearm used in the crime. Use the same knife used to slit his victim’s throat. I am not talking vigilante here, I mean the .gov (that we employ?) ought to kill these idiots publicly.

Savage people are not unlike the wolves. We began shooting wolves this Fall in Wyoming - and let me tell you - they recognized that we were killing on sight immediately! The very first day of season, we saw moose in open areas that we have not seen in years.

Yes, grandma should feel safe in public because she or others around her are “walking the dog” and perps of violence will actually get sent straight to hell instead of notoriety, 3 hot’s and a cot.

Other than that I really don’t have an opinion...

Trump and the stupid republicans had better think the consequences through long and hard.

They promised their base lots of things to get elected.
All the managed to do was a half baked tax cut
Now they want to pass the infringing stupid laws that we voted them into office & kept the republican's sorry asses in office to keep the Democrats from passing?

They do that, they loose everything for the next several elections till the party is stripped bare.

I pretty much vote republican just about solely based on caring about my Second Amendment rights.
If the stupid republicans think they can betray that, we'll I might as well have democrats in office so I can properly despise them.

We should rally as many people as we know to call up their congress critters & senator ****** people and let them know that they vote for any new restrictions, that is their last term in office & we'll get rid of them in the primaries or if not, we'll vote democrat or independent just to get rid of them.

Perhaps they forget that the whole reason the Republicans took back the congress after decades of being the minority party was when the Democrats passed the assault weapons ban under Clinton.

Things do not get better by giving away your rights one piece at a time.....i dont know why this is so fucking hard for yall to understand

Nor were rights ever won back by people who were content with the rights they already have.

They were won back by people who were pissed off....

So you keep enjoying your half full glass.......im gonna keep staring at my empty glass until i dont have to to ask wheter its half full or half empty.

Like most pro-gun people, I voted for Trump. He put on a big show about his support for gun rights, even speaking at the NRA Convention. I knew the man has zero core values and beliefs. I am now coming to the conclusion that his supposed "strong support" for the 2nd Amendment was bullshit. Nothing more than political expediency. I have no doubt whatsoever that he would sell us down the river if it gains him popularity with the media and Democrats. Do you guys really trust this guy to defend our Constitutional rights? Fuck no, not me.

A true defender and supporter of the 2nd Amendment would publicly and loudly support National Concealed Carry. He would demand an end to "gun-free" zones. He would be defending the NRA and gun owners against the vicious lies and smear campaign perpetrated by the media. Instead he comes out in support of gun control. And mark my words, this bogus "bump-stock" ban is just the beginning.

Fuck any new gun laws! We don't need anymore that do nothing but affect the law abiding citizens who are NOT murdering people. Anyone who's willing to lay down their arms and bend over backwards to the anti-gun faggots who wanna disarm law abiding citizens need to get the fuck out of the Second Amendment community! We don't need/want traitors!
