UPDATE: Received reply from the NYSRPA today.

----------
Thanks for your concern. We are aware of this proposed legislation it was actually introduced last session. Currently there are 130+ anti gun bills that are active and we follow all of their statuses. When it becomes evident a bill is starting to move we let our members know. Unfortunately because of the current political demographics(all 3 houses controlled by Democrats) there is little chance to stop legislation.

Wait. Did the citizens of Virginia also say "nah, can't do anything about it", and gave up?
I am going to respond back to this with the prospect of starting a true to earnest 2nd Amendment Sanctuary movement in the state. If staffed with the right people who can deliver the same unity and resolve as Virginia Patriots have shown in the last few months, the NYSRPA can become our own version of the VCDL. Going to try to stoke some movement into the local gun boards too. Northeast Shooters Forum will be my first stop.
Tom King is a RINO like most so called republicans in the NE.
In the good state of Virginia the majority of LEO support gun rights of the people and stand up for their rights.
NY LEO are exempt from these laws and can personally own high caps, buy whatever restricted weapons they want and can purchase suppressors for personal use so they really have no reason to stick up for people gun rights.
I know of a LEO in NY who bitched and cried recently because Larue and Barrett wont sell him an AR10 even though hes exempt from the restrictions.

I live north of Albany but work in NYC on occasion. Its funny how they are pushing for gun control but there is NO gun shops that sell to the public down there. I guess there was one in Westchester county years ago but was robbed and never reopened.

We need to break away from the city.

I would love to see a sanctuary/secession movement by the more gun friendly counties in NY. Unfortunately I don’t think it will help. It didn’t do much for VA.

As I suggest to folks, if you ever get a chance to rebuild civilization and decide to do voting, do an electoral college system based on even sized grid squares covering the voting area and each square gets 1 and only 1 vote.

Do this for every level of government from national down to city.

Others have proposed similar laws. And, it's an impossible law, in that fulfilling that requirement will literally be impossible. You can be SURE that no insurance company will underwrite a policy that indemnifies the holder for committing a CRIME.

Actionable "damages" resulting from the use of a firearm are a CRIME. And, the notion of an insurance company indemnifying a policy holder against liability for breaking the law is LAUGHABLE.

So, either the lawmakers are idiots (entirely possible) for not even understanding what INSURANCE is. Or, they KNOW it's an impossibility, and they see it as a back door approach to disarmament. Of course, it won't work. But, they are desperate and will try anything. Or... they're simply idiots. :)

The insurance companies would LAUGH at this concept. In fact, ALL insurance policies specifically EXCLUDE liability resulting from illegal activity. I have malpractice insurance, but it won't pay if my actions that result in injury were CRIMINAL.

The proposed law mandates the purchase of a product that doesn't exist and will never exist.
Thirty years ago who would have thought insurance companies would be forced to cover pre-existing conditions?

They are only allowed to own these items while they are active duty, supposedly once they are no longer LEO they are treated as regular citizens, per a cop I know in long island

And the guy is totally defiant about going to go do some more crimes to people.

See this instant no bail parole only works if there is some folks of the "doing what needs to be done" waiting around the corner from the courthouse with some black bags and baseball bats as they lean up against an old panel van....

The one thing The Man hates more than anything else is someone doing the job for them when they refuse to do it.

They will throw endless amounts of time and effort to catch a "vigilante" but can't afford the resources to find rapists & murderers.

Time to start ignoring some of these laws. Been a good boy and jumped through all their hoops for decades, enough is enough.

It's how marijuana got made legal, they just got fucking fed up with it and enough was enough.

If everyone does it, it's not a law it's just a piece of paper highly endorsed by out of touch power hungry politicians that do not represent us. Not losing sleep over this shit anymore. Enough is enough.

Unfortunately NYC and it’s suburbs rule the state politically due to sheer numbers.
You could say that, but every district of the state sends communists to the state house and communists to the congress and communists in every local election. Just for fun......................................name the sanctuary cities and counties where the local government protects gun owners? I can name the dozens of upstate cities like Buffalo and Rochester where the local thug cops run the names in obituaries against the gun owners data base and then send armed goons to the homes of the dead to confiscate firearms or threaten to arrest family members who refuse to comply.

Like I said on page one of this thread, NY is a lost cause. Buffalo and Rochester could do a 180 politically and NYC and it’s suburbs would still control the state politically. That is why I plan on moving out once my wife retires.

UPDATE 2/23

My response:

----------
Yes indeed I am aware of the fact. However, we must understand that the disarmament movement has entered a new phase now in the recent years. In the 1980's and 90's, the push for civilian disarmament in this country had been purely disguised as "crime reduction" and "saving the schoolchildren from gang violence", and the non-immune public bought it up, hook, line, and sinker.

However, the Democrats are not hiding behind this "selfless sacrifice" facade anymore. They are open in their intentions now. Beto O'Rourke saying "Hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15s and AK-47s", Eric Swalwell threatening to use nuclear weapons against American gun owners, Michael Bloomberg doubling down on his "only cops should have guns" right in the faces of the survivors of the Fort Worth attempted mass shooting who lived because an armed citizen was there to stop the aggressor, and last but not least, the governor of Virginia sneering with contempt even in the wake of the spectacular 1/20/20 rally and openly trying to provoke a civil war through utter depraved indifference that his attitude and speech is basically telling an entire group of law abiding citizens to "F-- off"...

Recently in November, right before their world fell apart, the Chinese Communist Party had declared in a globally published manifesto that they are fully behind the efforts to disarm law abiding Americans and that they are willing to provide any form of assistance to make that happen. That manifesto apparently emboldened the Democrats to lengths never seen before. Right now, we have numerous videos showing citizens who had spoken out against the CCP being rounded up and executed under the guise of epidemic control. Entire populations are being herded into quarantine camps with no basic care or supplies provided and being left to die. THIS is the same future that the Democrats have for us, and it would have long ago been implemented if we did not have guns in such massive numbers.

The civilian disarmament campaign right here in our country has already entered a new playing field partly due to influence from hostile foreign influences. We are not playing in the Peewee leagues anymore. The rules had changed with the current crop of disarmament and climate change fanatics that have risen in the Democratic party. This is adult professional football now, 1990's Oakland Raiders style, and we have to adjust our tactics accordingly or we are going to get the snot pounded out of us in that field. "Shall NOT be Infringed" should be the rallying call from now on. No compromises. No reworded bills. No gimmicks. Two decades of compromises have led to where we are now. It must stop and we must show the world like our fellows in Virginia that we will not stand for any infringements from now on. The 2nd Amendment Sanctuary movement might be "symbolic" in the eyes of certain people but they, and their backup Militia Acts, symbolize the evolution into a new playing field on our part. The more we tolerate aggression and remain passive, the more it will escalate, because our enemies mistake "law abiding" and civility for weakness.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Raymond

because our enemies mistake "law abiding" and civility for weakness.
I would say that specific statement is not exactly correct.
The enemies of freedom very much count on their knowledge of the "good" people having this near pathological devotion to being "law abiding" as well as their general temperament these days towards civility and non violence, to let them get the evil done they want to.

They make no "mistake" about it, rather it's all carefully calculated on exactly how much they can push at any given time, then push just that far, then come back later for more.

It's worked very well for them so far.

It is actually a weakness, if you will "just follow the law" for the most part even if you don't agree with it or know it's wrong, but your opponents will brazenly ignore any law they don't like and get violent about it too. Well eventually guess who wins and who gets trapped in a web of laws.

Today sexual perverts are celebrated openly as the most virtuous people in society and the laws protect them against anyone that would say otherwise.

Smoking weed which is still federally illegal is seen as a human right in many states & for the most part the feds agree to let entire states not bother following federal laws.

Meanwhile people who like their 2A rights are begging, pretty please don't take more of our rights away.....

Which side was happy to riot & march down the street shoving it in your faces and openly rioting and flaunting everything...
Which side had a devotion to "following the law"....

UPDATE 2/24

My response:

----------
What we as the body of the armed citizenry should do, is to first show that we are united and vigilant to everything that is going on in ALL levels of government regarding guns and ammunition. The first step that we can implement to show this kind of vigilance on our part, is by trying to get Second Amendment Sanctuary statutes established in our home counties. I am aware that when the SAFE Act had been first passed, most people did not register their semiautomatic rifles and this had been significant enough to make the news for several weeks even here in the downstate region. While this kind of defiance and civil disobedience certainly attract attention, it is not enough to show that the armed citizen body is actually united and ready to face the challenges together. What we have to do is follow in the footsteps of our fellow Patriots in Virginia.

Some people may think that Sanctuary County status is a purely symbolic gesture. However, "symbolism" has a quantity of it's own. Consider the portrait of Chairman Mao Zedong displayed on the Outer Wall of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Since the installation of that portrait, the Chinese government imposes the death penalty on anyone who defiles or attempts to damage or destroy that portrait. Why the death penalty? Surely if the portrait had been taken down, it would not mean the actual end of the Communist Party's rule, right? However, if anything happens to that portrait, the CCP will symbolically lose all their face and legitimacy before the population that they govern, and that can lead to extremely serious ramifications.

The ratification of the Second Amendment Sanctuaries in Virginia started off as symbolic, but now, they have opened the road for further strengthening of the protection of Virginians' gun rights. The sheriffs and other officials of these counties have used their Sanctuary status to enact further ordinances that forbid Governor Northam's administration from infringing on the sovereignty of these counties. Doing so will be regarded as an act of aggression. Many counties such as Tazewell had also ratified Militia Acts enabling the deputizing of all able bodied citizens in the event that hostile elements in the state government do try to initiate a firearms seizure or anything to that effect.

Now, excluding Albany and some of the downstate regions like NYC and Nassau, most of our state's counties are populated by citizens and law enforcement officials who wholeheartedly respect and cherish our country's traditions and Constitutional law, as demonstrated by the overwhelming resistance against the SAFE Act. To take one step further and ratify Second Amendment Sanctuary status, and perhaps even Militia Acts and Mutual Assistance Acts will not only demonstrate our resolve, but pave the way for more active protections against the leftists who will fight tooth and nail to turn this country into yet another vestige of the horrors of 20th century totalitarian regimes. Over 25,000 American Patriots, active duty soldiers as well as countless civilian fighters, have gave their lives to wrestle this land from the tyranny of the British Crown. Each of these lives who sacrificed all to take up arms against the most powerful military entity of the day were people just like us, with emotions, stories, ambitions, faces, investments, and those who they love, and love them in return. We must ensure that their sacrifices had not been for nothing.

What we can do from this day forward, is to reform and organize our existing powerful gun rights groups like the NYSRPA into a unified, vigilant, and extremely politically active force just like the VCDL in Virginia. Our goal should be nothing less than the cessation of ANY and ALL incremental restrictions forced upon law abiding people and restore the rights and abilities of all law abiding citizens to be able to purchase guns, ammunition, lawfully hunt and practice their shooting sports without fear of harassment, illicit monetary charges (such as NYC's residence and carry permit fees), and the use of tactics which are prone to being abused, such as "Red Flag" laws. Red flag legislation have already been used as a weapon against law abiding gun owners by vengeful ex-spouses and those who disagree with them politically, resulting in police actions that have led to the loss of innocent lives. Our second aim will be to use the latent power that our state's armed citizenry body already hold via our numbers, and try to get full Sanctuary ordinances and more passed. Those are measures which I, and almost all of our fellow gun owners, are ready to devote our own resources and efforts to help make a success for the future of our state and country.

Thank you for taking the time once again,

Raymond
