Are things financially tight right now?? I notice in the optics section some killer deals on scopes that sit for awhile. I personally have a Premier Optronika still covered by the ATI warranty and I'm about giving it away at the current price. Just wondering.... Maybe I haven't kept up. Thanks.

Market has been horrible since early summer. Had my PGW Timberwolf deployment kit for sale at $5200 for three weeks in August and only one trade offer (my listing specified no trades, lol).

Not sure what people are spending money on but it doesn’t seem to be rifles or optics, that’s for sure.

I have been forcing myself at times to log off and go do something else to avoid spending my play money that I have set aside for a hunting trip.
Some really good deals lately that haven't gone unnoticed.

Ammo and mags, baby. That's most of my focus. But overall, money IS tight. The holidays are approaching, and that's a massive financial stressor for many people.

However, there are a few other factors at play here. First, Black Friday is around the corner. People want to be ready to snag what they're after when it's at the lowest price of the year (in many cases), and when doing so means they get the same things you're selling as used for only a little extra new, most will go new when they can.

Second, SHOT show is just over two months away. I know some people hold off on buying new products until they know what's coming to market soon. I'm in this camp with regard to a Vortex Razor. I have an SPR rifle I'm just finishing up, and have a PSTII for it, but I want to upgrade and have a 50% off cert I can use through Vortex. There's nothing wrong with the Razor Gen2 or AMG offerings, but if Vortex has been listening and has a 3-18x AMG up their sleeve with the EBR-7C reticle in it, I'll gladly use the PSTII and wait to upgrade.

Pretty sure that covers most bases. But yeah, I've been rifle rich and ammo poor for too long. Sold my beloved AIAT recently because I just couldn't afford to feed it when I factored in other obligations and life changes in the past few months. So now I'm focusing on being able to feed what I have, especially with an election year coming up that will certainly bring crazy ammo prices with it.

I would say, despite what the news says about how wonderful Wall Street and the mega corps are doing, business is slow for a lot of folks and money is tight. It's a buyers market for a lot of things and folks are starting to feel a bit less interested in spending money.

Yep, good points...true on the ammo and mags...I also think folks are hunkering down financially overall given the uncertainty around what may or may not happen in Nov of next year. I’ve been stocking up on powder, primers, etc ensuring I can sustain regular ammo production targets.

I imagine rifles in super mag calibers are not moving as fast anyway, given the cost to shoot.

ammo, mags, and reloading components for me and I still usually spend more than my monthly limit

I did get a hell of a deal here on a FDE LaRue special edition grendel with all the fixin's a couple weeks ago, but it'll wear a spare beater scope until some 3-18 XTR3s started hitting the used market.

Could it be people have more money now and are buying new instead of used?
Or maybe the used is just priced too high?

AKA, all the dmr2s with an asking price of 1,000-1,100 when you can get one new for 900.

I wouldnt pay 2k for a premier either though, sure it may have great glass and is supposedly in warranty but its still a gamble and for 2k you can get a hell of a lot of new scope.

Agree, he wants a vortex with a two circle reticle...also saw some “ground breaking” stuff coming soon from Nightforce...perhaps that’s what’s holding up the market
Please elaborate on this groundbreaking NF stuff!

This is the slow time of the year for the industry. Black Friday is in two weeks, about the only way I'm buying a scope today is if it's more than 50% below retail and brand new. If you want top dollar sell in April or September.

It’s always slow.

Black Friday has people waiting for deals

Christmas has people spending money on other stuff

Shot show around the corner after and people waiting for used sales that happen after product announcements

Market won’t be ripe for selling until February or so.

Also, as mentioned, lots of stuff is priced too high and looks like deals based on what things used to sell for.

It's probably a combination of people waiting to see what's coming out at SHOT in a couple months, plus Black Friday, plus holiday present buying. I know that I'm waiting to see what the Burris RT-8 DFP looks like before making some decisions about an end-game 3 gun optic to replace my RT-6.

Will also say that there seem to have been a lot of pretty spectacular sales on new / open box / demo optics here. I know I will absolutely choose a forum commercial partner over buying from a rando on the Internet - knowing I'm not getting screwed and there's someone who will take care of me is pretty valuable. YMMV.

Think the precision market/industry is flush with options- similar to what the AR market experienced after the ‘16 election. There’s just a ton of great low-mid cost options out there. And its driving down the cost of the high end too. Ive watched dealers pushing out AIs and SRS (albeit older models) at crazy low prices. And factory ammo is available and cheap to boot. There is probably a ton of factors driving the slump- and I am taking full advantage of it- and stocking up on ammo for the next few seasons.

8 years of Obama emptied out most wallets in gun loving America. Then Trump becomes president and we have a somewhat gun friendly SCOTUS... no more rush or stress.

Meanwhile, manufacturers went wild trying to keep up with demand... and the demand has dropped without the fear of losing access.

Oh, and while your scope is great, it has an MOA reticle. :(

No one is buying anything unless it's a steal. I've only been able to sell things a decent bit under normal going rate.

This. Selling a used item is what people will pay for it used, not what you want out of it. If those two points don't line up either adjust your side or keep it and keep using it.

As much as most don't want to admit, Leupold bringing the MK5 out at what ended up being about a $2k street price, the new XTRIII, razor gen II's dropping in used price, it's not a sellers market.

Good glass holds value to a point. However, a Premiere is probably the worst premium optic to sell when people can buy the hot new thing for the same as a used scope from a defunct brand. (I know, I know, but premiere is no more, and it takes research to know what they really are).

That one was just getting warmed up:unsure:

It's interesting to note the subtle difference in thread titles permissible:

1) "Vortex sucks" = insta-mod' deletion.

2)"HMFIC sucks a big johnson" = still going 7 pages strong:LOL:
