They work great. They take up more rail space than the newer options.

They're great. They take up much more space and sit higher off the rail than the 15, but the IR flood and laser are fantastic.

Sweet. Looking into getting an IR/Illuminator and the peq15 is nice but I don't think I'd be using vis laser

Truthfully, you are better off getting a Steiner unit.

Dont know anything about the steiner unit but the peq2 and 15 I have both used. Both are awesome with they do. I like the 15 because it saves rail space but if you are just using the IR and nothing else on your rails then the peq2 will do everything you ask of it.
            I went to Barrett....

The reason you should buy a steiner unit is that it is almost impossible to get a PEQ Ė 2A that is not stolen.

In addition the 2A units are pretty flimsy when compared to the Steiner / Laser Devices units.

seriously, the civilian units that are now available or pretty damn good... and they are certainly better constructed than a 2A.

I love the illuminator on the 2A... but it's really interesting to note how good the civie units are...

agree with GBMaryland, and if you ever need work done on the 2 they will check it and if it is stolen you will not get it back.

the DBAL-D2 has a strong Illuminator and both a Vis and IR laser. as far as the vis laser, it depends on what you are using it for. It plays hell om a sounder of pigs at dusk as does the IR with NV at night.

there are others out now that will do all you will want as a civilian. The 2 works great in Afghanistan

the 2 works fantastic here as well. most that want one, want it for the illuminator not the aiming laser. no civy device has an illuminator worth 2 shits aside of the d2 and its not great for long range work simply because you cant collimate it to your optic. the luna elir-3 is about the only other viable option for laser illum that is powerful enough and can be collimated.

I was thinking about going with the APTIAL just because it's easier to zero since the visible and IR lasers line up. Unless I heard wrong.

MAWL supposedly beats the restricted stuff, but I'm not ever going to find out. $$$$ Why I'm probably just going with a D2.

Yeah, I had a D2 and it was pretty much as good as the PEQ-2A for the distances I was using it at. Then I went thermal and never looked back... the ATIPAL and MAWL where what I want thinking for newer units.
