Hello all, I have a couple Mausers that I would like to put useable but old style scopes on. I may end up just using SWFA 6x or PA ORION, but I know there is an abundance of knowledge here. Any suggestions? Also, is the “Hi Lux M40” any good?

I bought an older Redfield from them with a Mildot reticle and they included a one-year warranty. They refurbish them and can custamize to your requests. You can buy some great Redfields or Weavers on Ebay and Gunbroker for reasonable prices if your patient but it's a role of the dice.

I haven't read anything positive about the Hi-Lux vintage stuff.

The old steel Weavers are very useable.

A Weaver T10 is a fine scope its adjustable turrets are great and it has parallax adjustment. There are other magnifications in the T series line.

I have M40 clones so I looked into the Hi-Lux scopes. They look very much the part of a Redfield clone.

Leupold also made a repro M40 scope - looks less like an issue Redfield than the Hi-Lux.

I prefer the Leupolds because they have a mil reticle. The Hi-Lux is a truer clone but the weakness with these scopes include the capped turrets and the "squishy" adjustments. My intent is to just hold mil dots and never mess with my zero.

Id rather get a used vintage Redfield than a Hi-Lux personally.

Ebay has plenty of great older scopes for you just shop with discretion.

Weaver T series for the win.

Carbide balls on the adjustment points, strong spring tension on the erector tube, and very closely ground screws combined into one of the tightest and strongest adjustment systems ever put in a rifle scope.

Including modern production. Nothing has been proven materially better, and most of it is just a repro of the same thing.

Leupolds get Tuckered for a reason....

Do you have any leads on where to buy a T6? I have searched eBay and “iron sights” unsuccessfully.

Well. I didn't really post this as an intent to sell.. But I just got the barrel off of my 457 last night and started weighing components, so I might---painfully--send you my T6.

I really love it, but I also really need to lose some weight on this rifle, and a lighter scope is the way to do that.

...gah.. I JUST got this thing, and it's kind of rare as it is.

Well, lemme know.
