Nobody ever said anything like that. The rub comes from all the internet shooter who think shooting < moa at 1-300 yds is the std everyone lives by. Guys who shoot outside of the net know shooting a moa or better at distance is far harder than 20 shots at 300 an under, but all you hear is my stick will shoot 0.x moa all day every day. Which it might a shorter ranges but to do it for 20 rds at 4 different distances not only test the stick an ammo but the shooter as well, an those that shoot know that as fact. Some one, some day will clean HR an I hope I am there to see it done. I doubt it will ever be done with much more that a 223 as normally after those relays mother nature steps up her game.We have had a number of IBS champs come to show us how to do it an it did not go as they had planned.

These are always fun threads, lol.

We need a grudge match challenge Snipers Hide series/ TV show. Make it fun kinda like Top Shot, envision all kinds of guns and shooting sports combined.

That would be more than interesting. Frank could start his own TV show about shooting, gear, tactics an Midget Porn all wraped into a 60 minute show!

Hi,

LOL, don't even get me going on Saudi's lol. Now the Emirates SF guys can be a different story. I will have to tell you about their recent run in with a Yemen sniper in person.

You available for IDEX?
Most definitely you can come out for our media day we are going to have for new rifle and cartridge.

I totally agree with you about group size and distance, but it is about impossible to test a rifles group at distance, as you know.

Testing at short range is useful, as at least we can mostly disregard wind. Hitting at mid to long range, is what matters, but so many factors conspire to mask the weapons potential, that all we can really say is what the shooter can do on a given day.

Just rambling now, but at 400-600 yards on a calm day, I have no trouble hitting sub moa, probably like most here. I shot a match in WY a few years ago, and we had 30-40 mph winds. I never hit the 400 yard target, which was a fair bit bigger than moa.

Shit kids, at the rate this thread is going there's going to be a new 'sniper only' forum where you have to mail in your DD214 or give the contact info for your prime as well as a hand written letter from your KO.

@THEIS private plane? I'm not spending 10k to go to fucking Adu Dahbi just to learn about the new 6.6 Creedmoor and dodge women with hairlip. :p

It's entertaining to see how many have so much hate for Rex. Do you hate because he's a better shot than you?
I hate, Hate, HATE anyone who is a better shot than me!!!

Dude, Dudder, El Duderino...Rex is not into the whole brevity thing...at all. I can’t watch him because It takes him 150 words when 10 are required.

I’m a retired diamond setter and the setter that thought me the trade told me doesn’t make any difference how you crack the nut as long as you get all the meet out. Not everything is set in stone. There are many ways to get where you want to go. We are too judge mental often times.

are you just talking to yourself?

A lot of it is out of date and does nobody any favors. It's not just about getting a hit, that is easy with today's stuff, a good rifle with a decent load on a tripod can hit a target without any effort

Good Bad Shooters are a dime a dozen, we'd rather have real information than all the information thrown at you in hopes something sticks.

In any other discipline, nobody would be paying attention to a youtube hero with next to no background in precision rifle shooting. He is reading out of old manuals. Guys in the AR / Handgun world have been run out of the industry for less. Unfortunately, so many people have no clue what goes into precision rifle shooting they accept as good shooting. Can be the most creatively edited stuff out there, they don't care.

It's not about set in stone, it's about ignorance being bliss, the less you know the better it sounds.

While I have found his series entertaining, it isn't something I tell others to watch, becuase he focus to much on the things that don't really mater and to little on the things that do.

For instance, his approach to tables is hyper focus on 10° temp swings. It is made into a huge deal that really makes little sense in the real world. But it seems to make him seem super interesting to some. I've seen his charts where he has tables for every 10° yet runs distance at 50 or even 100. That is just ass backwards logic, yes wrong logic.

So for me, to recap, the biggest issue is the detail he goes into without giving the shooters a real useful tool.

I found him a few years ago as well. I look at it like this, its like a forum. With well over 100 videos, you can take what you want, leave the rest, but for God's sake dont make it your only source of information. Validate, cross reference, verify. I watched this vid. His trigger finger is way to twitchy for my taste. So, external ballistics, i'll watch t-rex (some). Basic marksmanship and positional shooting, ill go elsewhere. CWF

Ever want to watch someone ramble and flat out lie to you for 20 minutes?

No chance you'll ever see the bullet hit the wet dirt in those conditions at 2k.
Would barely have 150 ft/lbs of energy at that distance, 135 gr brass solid going 2885 fps lol.
Probably couldn't see the target in flat light and snow.
Claims to range a 2k target offhand while laying prone, while it's actively snowing. Never gonna happen
Claims to run a S+B up to 20 power then hold over 10.8 mils, you can't see 10.8 mils of holdover in that scope at 20x.
Cycles the bolt right at the 5 count, time of flight is just over 5 seconds so he's cycling the bolt right when he would allegedly be spotting an impact.

Being a rambling reciter of shooting manuals is one thing... being a liar is another.

Ya, that was suspect, at 55 Mils he definitely shot at something far.

we used 36.3 Mils to 2112 with the Valkyrie, 6.5 Mils of wind but there was two us, one with a spotter. And shot a 36" plate.

Plus we had cameras on the target and shooter at the same time. We can show our work.

He is the non-offensive man for the masses though, the reach is strong.

My favorite part was the distance rating stamped on the ammo box.

I've got to stop by Mile High and see if they have any of that 5280 yard ammo.

How the fuck does he have afford to have a Charlie but not a GoPro to record hits?

He got with John Baker , and Ed F from Spain who does King of 2 Mile, they gave him the Taco unit and Steyr as Ed works for Steyr. Seth from Bipod EXT has been working with him and Ed together on a lot of video stuff.

The part I laughed about was the bipod was angled to get him lower because lower is stable. he is already prone, how is lower prone more stable ? More BS propaganda for the uneducated masses. You adjust the bipod for terrain and body type, not some artificial idea that lower prone is better than comfortable prone.

when i shot NCAA, my coaches would tell me that "lower prone is more stable"....and when you are shooting from a sling, i think that is true to an extent....ive found mainly because wind has less influence in pushing the rifle around the lower you get........personally i think the discomfort of a lower position negates any of the benefit of the lower position.

if you are in a position that is physically uncomfortable.....you are not going to shoot your best.....because all you are focusing on is getting out of that position ASAP.....this get exacerbated when you are shooting a string of fire and are in that position for 20-40 mins at a time.

that being said....i have not noticed ANY difference in stability when shooting from a bipod.....so why not adopt a higher more comfortable position?

Prone with a sling should mean you have your support hand forward in a vertical position with the bone directly under the rifle. Bone Support

So the position would be dictated by the size of your forearm and not a question of going lower.

yes, the wind can mess with you, but 1" or so lower is not gonna have an effect in terms of wind.

The problem is a game of telephone, the original intent was lost and your coach was repeating the mythology that lower is better.

If you are Standing and you want to get more stable you get lower and go kneeling

If you are Kneeling and want to get more stable you go lower to sitting

If you are Sitting and you want to get more stable you go lower to prone

Once you are Prone the only lower is dead.

The conversation about getting lower came from this... getting to a lower position from a previous position.

Telephone.
