LMAO LMAO.... You basically copied and pasted LL post from the other thread.

And what question did I dodge?? I genuinely asked you what he has wrong and you answered my question with a tirade of other questions about what kind of groundbreaking stuff Rex had come up with. Right after I finished telling you that I don't know what he teaches. Fucking twilight zone around here it is.
LMOA.....gee its almost as if 2 people who know what they are talking about pointed out the same thing....LMOA ROFLCOPTERS

but because you apparently cant fucking read.... ill post them again.

what is his background?
what makes him an 'expert' (his words btw)?
what new information has he put forth?
what makes him a more viable source of info than any of the hundreds of verified sources?
what does he offer that you cant find on google in 10 seconds?

if you cant answer ANY of those....then why do you people so vehemently come to his defense?

but lets see some of his highlights shall we.

1) how NOT to mount a scope by rex...

2) rex reviews tactical dildos

3) watch rex flinch for 12 minutes

4) watch rex look incredibly awkward behind and AK while fumbling through reloads like a man with no thumbs

5) Rex flinching with a Tavor in what looks like a terrible prone position

6) watch rex flinch from a terribly set up position while lying about the range hes shooting at

shall i go on?

Have you read the field manual LL was referring to? I find it so ironic that he said that a week ago in an old 2013 thread that you obviously saw because you posted right after. Now you say the same thing he said word for word. Hmmmm. Yea though you and LL are just on the same wavelength I guess. Just a coincidence.

And if I wanted to watch his drawn out videos to critique them I would have done that. You seemed to have a firm handle on what he has wrong I figured you could easily state it in a sentence or two. But yea that’s not how I mount a scope. Didn’t watch any further than that. I don’t care enough because again, I have no opinion on the dude either way. He makes videos doing something he enjoys and people watch them and he makes a living. Don’t like it? Get over it. If someone is willing to pay him to teach them, get over it. If you feel you are losing business as an instructor, work harder and get the business. Welcome to America. No need to hate on the dude as a person.

yeah, its strange how there are only so many ways to say the same thing....isnt it?

and which FM....FM23-10?.....FM3-22?.....MCRP3-01?...MCWP3-15? ..yup, read them all...essentially Rex's Sniper101 series wrapped up in a 20 minute read.

so you ask me what he does wrong....i provide a list of what he does wrong.....and you dismiss it? i literally told you what he does wrong in every fucking video i posted.

and you come in here doing a lot of posting defending the guy.....buy you claim "you dont care"

and im not losing any business as an instructor....mainly because firearms instruction isnt my day job.....engineering pays the bills a lot better than firearms instruction does.

and yes, if someone is a charlatan, i can and will hate on them all i want....welcome to america.

still answered 0 of those questions btw......

Gotcha, but you had that opinion all along and it has nothing to do with LL just saying it in another thread and you posting the same thing word for word right after it. Got it. 10 4. That’s not strange at all.

So to review, he mounts scopes wrong, reviews things you don’t like, and he flinches. Got it. I think we cleared this all up. Good talk.

And for the love of God. I’m not defending anything. It’s be same story as the chassis thread you graced us with your opinion on. You say “derrr trigger probably sux”. I say “can you elaborate?”. You say “WTF man why are you so emotionally defending this chassis?!! if you want to waste your money go ahead”. Lol. And I’m like “ uhhhh ok”. You keep failing to realize that it’s not me defending anything, it’s you failing to defend/explain why something “sux”. Other than “derrrr, it sux”.

So strange to me how people project on Internet forums. They usually do it with numbered lists. They get all riled up and project that out because they feel dumb for getting all riled up lol. It’s hilarious.

People who claim to be experts whilst never competing do it out of fear. Were they to try and get throttled it would shake the foundation of their expertise.

Not saying you have to win, but if you can make it into the top 10/20/30% it certainly lends credibility to your expertise.

Frank used to offer to pay for these idiots air fare, lodging, match fees, etc. if they had the balls to show up and back up their talk. To my knowledge nobody ever took him up on the offer.

I'd like to see Hodnett show up at a few matches, but it's unlikely given you don't get like 26 attempts to hit a target for the camera.

Damn I tried watching the video in the OP but didn't even make it to the first trigger pull.
What a self inflated douche (AKA bag of hot air ) when the drama started about having to endure the death march back across the great expanse of a 1000 yards to the firing position I was allready hitting the back button.

Okay, ready here is a test,

This video is at least 4 years old, I did it originally for Accuracy International when the PSR Rifle came out. So bare in mind the time frame of it.

To put it in context, I had this video in a Powerpoint I used for class, it's my "Break Video" so when I hit it, we go on a 10 minute break, it's really just a place holder for me when teaching.

So pay close attention to the fundamentals demonstrated, look at the cheek weld, trigger control, follow through, etc. That is really what it shows, but there is a secret in here I will post after.
@Lowlight. I have some more knowledge (and some elements related to marksmanship fundamentals to improve) after watching the video. I'm stumped on finding the secret.

@Lowlight was the secret the hit already on the steel when you started shooting? Looked like you got your wind call (you dialed some off the scope at the end of the video), hit record on the camera, and then put a nice group on the steel?

Yes he did an the boys at HardRock have had a standing offer for the internet shooters just as long. I could give you names of Hide members, Battlerifles members and a few others from the web who run thier lips but never took up the offer. One ass wipe from west Ga was offered a door to door ride with all the trimming then came up an said he had nothing to shoot the match with. So I offered a known winning gun an ammo free of charge, all he had to do was show up! He even declined that offer. Guess we need to have portable ranges to move around the country on a moments notice. Oh wait, they have those free of charge on moms TV in the basement, don't they?

Man you guys got after it last night, impressive.

One question, why does my name keep coming up ? In terms of the context of the discussion it's irrelevant, are you trying to say we coordinated the posts, or played follow the leader ? Super weak by the way if that is the implication, especially repeating it every post. Clearly he has more insist into the video then you are giving him credit for. He doesn't need me to explain it.

Todd used to shoot matches, back in 2003 era at Rifles Only. His resume used to list that he won an international sniper competition, that was a Tac Pro Match down in TX. Bill and Alice were from England originally that made it international, LOL he is a decent shot, no doubt there, but had a bad reputation I will not go into right now so he stopped shooting the matches soon after starting.

@BangBangBlatBlat that is actually a really good way to explain it.

The secret of the video is, creative editing. While I did shoot that group, and that rifle, they were shot on two different ranges at two different times. In fact i have no clue what I used to shoot that group at 1125, don't remember, I would have to find which folder it is in to see. The shots of the rifle were done at Byers CO, which is Colorado Rifle Club, it was filmed on the high power range, no steel. The steel was at my range in Fort Morgan. Probably at least 2 years apart.

Goes to show how deceiving video can be. We can look at certain elements of a person's shooting skills and sort of tell, is it true, was it a lucky day, or does the subject in the video have any real talent? Anyone can recite from a book, whether it is an FM, TM, or Major Plaster. Why most of the videos are voice over work and not spoken word. The fact he drones on is another clue, searching for the right thing to say. Todd does this in the magpul video, he doesn't really know the answer so they hunt around hoping to recall the right answer. By taking stock footage and then reading out of a book doing the voice over work you sound smart and nobody see the truth of the matter. I did do one goof voice over video I am not sure where it is, if i find it I will post it.

In the AR community both of these guys would have been run out of town. They are far more critical of guys who have very little experience but can mimic drills and actions. For some reason the Precision Rifle Crowd covets these guys in a way the AR and Handgun world would never do. Its weird.

Give them props, for good keywording, aggressive sales tactics, and the fact they made a living off it. I could not do it which is why I stay in my lane with a lot of this stuff. I have done a ton of handgun and carbine work but you never see me sliding into their lanes just because I have taken classes from many of the best, or taught at few at Rifles Only alongside so pretty big "who's" in that world.

If it makes guys happy to watch or to pay to hang out, more power to you, but let's be honest about it. More of a cult of personality vs real world learning and experience. Graduating Sniper School was not easy, buying a book and video camera should not be considered a replacement.

Hi,

My take on it is this (Not that it matters lol).....

There are "instructors" that have knowledge and "instructors" that can pass on knowledge. The difference lays with how they achieved that knowledge.

You can be knowledgeable by application or knowledgeable by association.

Which type you choose to take lessons from is your business but if you choose the knowledgeable by association over the knowledgeable by application then do not come into a place such as the hide and expect that to mean much.

Sincerely,
Theis

I heard that. I’ve only been shooting seriously for about a year or so but I feel I could spank most people on this board easlily. I picked it up fast. All I need is a plane ticket and an entry fee to the next comp.

No no. Not at all saying you coordinated or anything like that. Just saying the board all had nothing but positives to say until you questioned him. That’s not a shot at you at all. You are correct and you did it tactfully. But after that the dogpile came on from the peanut gallery who acted like they had the same opinion all along. Now they attack him personally every chance they get. It’s the Internet tough guy know it all mentality and it just irks me for whatever reason. Guarantee if 99% of people that talk smack about him here met him they would shake his hand and be fine with him and act like they never said a word about him.

Serious question.... good Lord please focus and don’t go on a tirade. I’m asking an honest question...

What kind of targets do you have to hit at what distance to become master prone shooter per NRA?

I think it comes from the fact, it went from a Youtube channel to hosting Seminars and charging people.

Once you take that next step and begin to charge people you are now providing a service and many feel that is misleading or dishonest. Timing wise, I think the negative posts coincided with his seminars and the cost. if you consider a 2 Day Applied Ballistics Seminar with Bryan Litz is $500 and you get a lot of his material as part of it, charging $600 to "Talk" about precision is a lot of money. My 2 day classes in AK are $500 and we shoot, granted, my 3 Day Class in CO is $1000, that is because of the markets. This however is not the same.

There are tons of Youtube personalities that make money off the videos, they will do paid appearances, which is simply a meet and greet. Moving into the world of teaching is something else. I have heard it explained, buy a copy of the Ultimate Sniper and get the same info vs pay $600 for someone to talk about what they read in the Ultimate Sniper. See where the rub lies ?

Hey he fills his seminars, good on him, but honestly, those attending are not getting anything in return but an extended Meet and Greet with a Youtube celebrity.

calm down pal, im not unhinged...

if i recall......its 200 shots, with an average score 94.5 or higher on a-26 and a-33 targets.........x ring at 50m is .39"......10 ring at 100m is 1"

i think the way they set it up is that 1 match wont have the required shotcount to qualify, so you have to shoot a minimum of 2 matches.

Your only 4.5 hrs away from HR so, send me your info via PM an I will get you an invite (HardRock is by invitation only). There are more than a few on this board that shoot there, so the opportunity for you abounds. If you want to take the challenge all you have to do is show up, an Clean the course, an your expenses will be refunded. All HR rules apply.

There are only two reg match's left this year July an August a September might be added, don't know. Then it all starts over in Feb 2019.

So if I’m calculating target size including small bore bullet width it’s roughly a hair better than 2 MOA? Does that sound right?

sound high.....

NRA rules state you have to break the line to get the point.......so lets look at 100M....call it 100 yds for all practical purposes.......bullet diameter is .22 X2 = .44

10ring = 1" + .44 = 1.44" @ 100m or a touch under 1.4 MOA from a supported prone position.....you could technically qualify for master if you had a 1.5 MOA hold, if you had no conditions.

once you factor in wind and mirage, and fliers(thanks rim fire).....you really need a sub-moa hold to reliably shoot Master scores

Just because you put your "credentials" on the internet, doesnt mean its true.
still waiting for yours btw.......

If you think you can shoot come to a match and you'll actually find out. If you don't you'll never know and it will be all talk (or youtube, the same thing). Until I see someone shoot in a match I am not going to have any opinion about how well or poorly they can shoot. I'm certainly not going to base it on a video.

I thought I was quite the marksman till I shot my first match. I was not humbled. I was humiliated. I got over it quickly. From there to here has been a journey. I now shoot the middle of the field in big competitions competing against some of the best marksmen on planet earth. I've shot better and improved every single match I've shot for the last two years. I drive home smiling every time. I love it. I would do nothing but this (and hunt and fish) if I had the money and time.

The whole idea of a match is to see who's best/how good you are. I feel honored to shoot along side so many talented and committed marksmen.

The only "training" or class I've taken is Jim See's two day PRS prep course. I thought it was totally worth the money, especially for someone new to tactical steel matches. There was hardly any work on shooting fundamentals (it was assumed you can shoot), but tons of practical instruction on positional shooting that I have really put to good use. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get into competing.

I would go to Litz's seminars, but that's about the only one I would do that didn't involve actually shooting. Then again, I've read all the books, so I'm not sure how worth it would be to go to the seminars...

If Rex can dance he should actually come to a dance. Dancing in front of the mirror don't count.
