Removing Eye Cup From Hensoldt Spotter

For quite some time I've wanted to remove the rubber eye cup from my Hensoldt Spotter in order to use a digiscoping adapter, but numerous web searches for how to remove it yielded no results. With a little advice from Jason Baney at EuroOptic I got brave enough to try it a week or so ago. It was surprisingly simple, but I figured I'd make a video in case there is anyone else out there who has wanted to try but is worried about jacking up an expensive piece of equipment. Full disclosure . . . this is my first "how to" video and it most definitely shows. ;)

ETA: Looks like my manual is an April 2013 revision.

Just an FYI, there more than one eye cup design, the older ones cannot be removed easily and if you do it wrong it has to go back to Hensoldt to be fixed.

My eye cup is broken from years of use, and replacing is not an option without returning it. Hensoldt changed the design, so just a caveat

Thanks for the heads up! I'll see if I can locate the date of manufacture (or if nothing else the date of purchase) and update the post.

@SkyScrapin With the rubber eye cup removed the small adapter is the correct size. The replacement eye guard that @jb1000br just posted looks much more uniform than the original and might allow for the adapter to be used with it in place . . . if so that could require the medium. I have a medium on hand and can confirm once Jason ships me the part. :)

@lunacinco Roger that. I'll be on the lookout for an update. I was looking at the phoneskope, but those dudes never could tell me if they had an adapter that would work. This should resolve that challenge.
