Anyone else have an older rimfire? If so, whatcha got?!

I inherited this baby a couple years ago, and did some investigating through the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. It's so much fun to shoot! A Winchester falling block single shot .22lr. Shoots like a dream! IMG_20200215_172753999.jpg

Two:
1915 full octagon Stevens Favorite and a Savage/Stevens 74 favorite. The Stevens design was considerably cheaper to produce than the 1885, due to being more like a toggle link action and a cast receiver.

That's a lovely old rifle. You don't see many that old in this condition. I'm green with envy!

I’ve got an old octagon, but nothing as interesting as that! I’d oil that, have a custom mount made for it and keep it as pristine as possible.

Imagine what that gun has gone through since 1887...how many owners it has had or how many animals met their end to it. I bet it took down some deer too. I heard in the old days, they used to shoot deer in the eye with 22LR and they went right down. I would love that gun...Do you know what its $ value is?

Cool Winchester.

No pics handy, but I have a Mossberg 44US-D .22lr (pre-S/N). From the little research I’ve done, they were used (not mine, but many like them) as military trainer .22’s for a number of years. I probably shoot it more than any other gun I own. I almost always take it to the range and play around on 100yd 3” steel swingers while I wait for my centerfire barrels to cool down. It’s an inexpensive heavy barrel rimfire with peep iron sights, and it shoots well with CCI SV. Bought it for $200 off Armslist a couple years ago. While it’s not gonna win any beauty contests, it’s a fun little rimfire and is one of few firearms I own that I don’t believe I’ll ever sell. Definitely one of my favorites.

My neighbor in Florida called me up one day to ask me about a gun he had.
I go over there and he has two identical 22s from early 1900.
One is used and the other is new never been fired with a box.
I am still considering buying the new one.
He's got a dozen or so CZ's
The problem is he's from Illinois and doesn't want to screw around with taking them all home

I have 3 or 4 BSA International's. Here's one of my MkII's wearing a 2" Unertl 24x. They are among my favorite "old" 22's. All of them will easily shoot in the .3's to .5's @ 50yds with the right lot of ammo.

I’ve got this old beauty. It’s a falling block single shot action. There’s no stamping on the heavy barrel which Makes me think is a home re-barrel job. I wish I knew what it was. There’s no markings. I’d like to get a knock off period scope and see what it can do.

I've got a Stevens 1915 Favorite octagon barrel and a late 50's Waltehr KKJ. I've outfitted the stevens with an old Lyman tang sight, and it's a cool old rifle to plink with. The KKJ now has a period correct Hensoldt 1.5-6x and shots like a dream. Can't wait to start slying squirrels with it.
