I wish I had the luxury of a nicely fresh cut field. Tall scrub and thick brush gives them the advantage to run circles around me.View attachment 7093207

Ya man that some pretty thick scruff you shooting in .
Around here a lot of fields are doing the 1st year cutting and some bailing, but it early summer and there is a lot high grass and growth .
most definitely makes spotting easy when you got cut grass . I always checking them cut fields if driving back home at 1st light for dogs mousing and hunting .

OHhh FUN TIMES .. Last Night, no moon and nice and quiet .. ( the plan ), I go into a small fenced coral area behind a barn to set-up and search and make few calls for some coyotes behind a BigAss manure pile .
There is also 6 young Bulls in the back of barn in fenced coral area waiting to get about 18 months old to go into auction sale .
I walk into backside of barn, threw gate into coral area wearing gear and NV/helmet . Even though I'm a stranger just turned up and kicked them up from sleep , they all just all up eyeballing me pretty heavy and they young and not really looking to start something they not totally sure about . I just keeping my focus and just ignoring them and go about my business .

So I walk down and behind a 10 ft. manure pile (nice dry area), Young bulls eyeballing me and all following stepping a little closer one by one . They pretty jittery and the all black Angus starts doing this rodeo bucking and shaking his head act, but he putting a Vibe more like he wants to play than be aggressive . But they all still holding off about 20 ft. off and eyeballing me, so I keep on my set-up .
It starts looking like a big clusterfuck, I got to make light verbal with them and they making Noise also and I thinking about packing it up, but I hear a solo young coyote off and doing a few barks a few hundred yards off a side field . So I setup Rifle on tripod and set my pack down by electric fence and start scanning with Thermal .
I standing there scanning and before I know it, I am in a tight scrimmage huddle and surrounded, nudged and sniffed . Bulls not really being malicious but I grabbing my tripod and holding it up and trying not to get pushed into electric fence . It all getting a little to cozy, I got to make a few verbal commands at them and some light pushing to hold my ground . They all start setting down but they wont leave . They all just stay circled tight around behind me . Even If I scanned a coyote there No Way I could make a shot and not take risk of them freaking and knocking me down and stepping on me . It all ends up like I'm just the bovine entertainment for the night.

I don't end up shooting that many female coyote . over the years, I bet it about one female shot to every 10 males around my area .
Does that say anything ? as far breeding habits to food ratio ...etc. or is this about normal for everyone else shooting coyotes .
Popped this female this morning about 02:30 .

Edit Add:
Forgot to say ... This Coyote .
I went back to the exact same spot where I said in ( posts # 146 ) .. where I showed-up to hunt and found guys were out there hunting 'educating coyote . flashing IR all over, shooting-missing coyotes , revving up quad and making unnecessary noise and dirtying-Up my usual hunt location .

Cant wait to be on this post. My first thermal arrives on Friday. @DownRangeThermal hooked me up with a great deal on an apex qx50. Cant wait. A couple of things, when posting your vids, it would be appreciated and helpfull if you post what your optic is and what distance.

Got this young boar about 3am today. Shot was about 10 yds. then he ambled into thick cover and popped out for 2nd and final shot. Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel and FLIR PTS 233.IMG_0735.JPG
