I'd Look at a different powder but your 4895 should get you 2650-2700 depending, but it will be warm. If your not shooting past 800 it will work.

Anybody use it for 308 with 168 pills?
The powder did really well for me in my RPR with a Krieger 26" barrel. 5 shot ES's and SD's were all single digits and groups in the .3's. I used 41.0 grs and was getting MV's around 2725 fps.

It also will make 155 palma scream. I've had a couple 24" 308 do 2950-3005fps with it. Primers weren't hammered flat either.

I’ve used it for some load development, I started a little low and went up above the recommended load, took a lot of crunching and still didn’t show signs of stress.

The load or the rifle wouldn’t group sub moa (even with fgmm) so I stopped load development and sold the rifle.

I have used IMR for 30 years for 155, 168 and more recently 175. I did a class with some hot 8208 175 loads which is a faster powder and consistently hit at 1k, but I won't do that again. Varget seems to be a favorite as well as 4064. Of course as someone pointed out 4895 is old school as is 4064, but as long as you watch the pressure signs and don't try to shoot on a 105 degree day after leaving your max loads in the sun you should be fine. I think H is considered one of the extreme powders so in theory it should be better, but maybe not as good as the Varget. If you are loading for a semi, you don't want to go max load, unless you want to abuse your gun.
