Hello Gents,

I`m a mid 30 law enforcement officer from northern Bavaria.
I started shooting as a child at a local gun club and now, since a couple of years I`m a hunter too. Last Year I started with long range shooting, after I had my setup finished. Now I´m going to reload my own ammunition for this and for hunting.
Not so long ago, I also was deployed to Afghanistan for one year.
So I`m really looking forward to meet people with the same interests.

Cheers

Whiskey

Servus from Tennessee! Ex Swabian here that went to USA 7 years ago.

I wish I had hunted the alps before I left but at that time I couldn't afford to hunt.

WhiskeyUniform,
Greetings from the U.S. I’ve visited the Spitzingsee last year and wish I could afford a vacation home in the area. Great beer and terrific food.
Where are you able to shoot long distance. I was able to shoot at one of your indoor ranges, but it only reached out 100 meters. I was able to shop the steel rabbit and paper boar when they “ran” across the range.
Anyway, welcome. We look forward to hearing some of your challenges as you start to reload.

Thank you very much for this nice welcome! :D

There‘re some 100-300 meter ranges near my hometown. And I have the possibility to go shooting on base. Some of you might know one of them. There the ranges are up to 1000 meters and more.
Also in Czech Republik, there‘re some good ranges for long range shooting.

I‘ll report about my reloading, hope it‘ll work :)

Bamberg is a nice town, good wine and beer.

Garmisch is really one of the top. I‘ve relatives there and love hiking in the mountains. When you‘ll be back there, you should visit Partnachklamm and Hölltalklamm.

Spitzingsee is also great. My company has a mountain shelter at Spitzingsee for recreation and training courses.

How difficult is it to move rifles across the German/Czech border? I know the Czechs don’t care, but is bringing it back to Germany a problem?
The only long ranges in Germany I have worked at are Grafenwöhr and Baumholder. Wasn’t able to shoot at either place, but was training with aircraft.

You need a special permission (European firarms passport) to carry your guns over the border. If you have this, you can take them with you in the european union.

For sporting shooters the limitations are a maximum of six weapons and ammunition for them. For hunting you´re only allowed to take three rifles with you.
