Hello gents,

So as the title states, at what time do you decide it's time to finally add negative feedback?

Been trying to get a rifle from a member here but communication on his part is very very rare. I'm having such a difficult time getting him to talk to me over the phone and text messages have only been a few. I'll say this though, he was quick enough to say that he does accept PayPal and sent me a link to his PayPal account so I could send the money. He suggested I send over the money as well as my FFL info and that he would have the rifle sent. After that, it's been crickets. Now I don't know about you, but to me that seems like maybe he was hoping to make some easy cash and simply forget about everything else. I would hate for another fellow member to fall victim to this. I asked to speak with him and he mentioned he was out with family but would call me later when they got home.

Here's the catch, he at one point did apologize and said he would have gotten to me a lot sooner but his work does not allow him to have his phone. Okay I get that. Maybe he is some sort of investigator or paid assasin that works many many hours. Wouldn't he have to eat at one point though and take a small break? He did say he would sell the rifle to me, so why not be a man of his world and sell me the rifle instead of going ghost on me? The time I called him, phone rang for about two seconds only, seems like he saw my call and rejected.

Technically, he hasn't screwed me over because I never sent payment. One reliable member here has bought from him and sold to him and can vouch for him. So I do think that maybe he's an honorable man that has gotten caught up with work and family. It's been about a week and a half though that I'm trying to make this transaction happen. Other than that, he doesn't have any feedback. I had already forgotten about it and made up my mind that this is a deal that just wasn't going to happen. But then I remembered that maybe I should add negative feedback. Somebody else could have sent over the money when he requested it and maybe it would have had a negative outcome.

Though???

Forget him, why would you take the chance?
Yep, just move on. Don't flame him publicly and draw yourself into that shitshow. But, if anyone PM's you about the seller, tell them of your experience (facts only) and let them make up their own mind.

You have your money and there's no paycheck in it for you if you flame him.

I've had flaky buyers not send payment that I thought about leaving neg feedback-but in the end nobody was ripped off etc-more of an inconvenience really. I put this in the same category and I obviously wouldn't buy from him.

? He didn’t screw you.

Ask for a pic of the item with his drivers license and PayPal id in the picture. If still not feeling good about it, pay the extra and send goods and services

Feedback isnt to hurt the numbnuts, its to protect fellow brothers from having the same experience. An ass isnt worth my time, my brothers however are. Leave feedback when you think you can save a brother a headache.

That's exactly what I asked for. He at first did send many pictures different from the ones in the ad here so I do believe the rifle is in his possession. I asked for the ID pic but never got it.

Assuming he stops being a ghost and we move forward, would sending payment via goods & services on PayPal protect me? I know PayPal doesn't like firearms related transactions.

Didn’t think about the anti gun aspect. Not sure.

@Tucker301 might be able to check this guy out for ya

Feedback is ok but they’ve already caught scammers leaving good feedback for each other

Sorry but I flatly refuse to send anyone on the internet a picture of my ID

Considering you never paid for the item but are already beating the drum about wanting to give him negative feedback because he won't send you a picture of his ID (which I'd also tell you no way in hell), I'd suggest the seller may also not want to deal with you either and perhaps you both just act like adults and go your separate ways and no need to start yet another thread it. You could get all upset and leave him negative feedback because he wouldn't send you a picture of his ID and then he can get all upset and leave you negative feedback for your actions towards him in leaving negative feedback when you never paid for it either.

To clarify, did he agree to sell you the rifle either in a PM or otherwise in writing? If so, you send him any money?

If no to either, a transaction hasn’t taken place yet so nothing on which to leave feedback.

Id walk away, fuck these flakey assholes. It’s not worth your time.

I'm trying to buy a firearm, he has to send a copy of his ID either way so that my FFL can make the transfer. Instead of making one copy of his ID to include with the firearm, he can make that copy plus send me one via text.

At least that was my though process...

He agreed to sell me the rifle via text message, so yes it is in writing. I never sent the money because of the minimal communication. I wanted to at least speak via phone call with him to get a feel for what he is like on phone at least. When the phone call never happened, I requested to at least send me a pic of his ID. I did this in case he ripped me off, I would have some info on him.

But no, I decided to not send payment based on his lack of communication and I decided to forget about it until just last night. I decided to make this thread just to ask for opinions as I have done a very small amount of online transactions and don't have much experience doing so.

I don't chase people anymore. I don't constantly text or call if you don't get back to me. I don't give you more than a few chances at the start.

All it ended up being was an exercise in me trying to prove that I'm right and that their shitty antics were bullshit to a shitty antics bullshit kind of person.

Sounds like you did exactly what you should have done, given the poor comms on his part. Money is still in your pocket, where it belongs.

Give it to someone who values both common courtesy and your time. I have no patience for those that don’t value either.

Has he been active on the forums since?

Imo, if you still really want the rifle I would just send him an honest email or message telling home where your at and asking if he's still interested in doing the deal or not and what it would take to move forward.

If you are no longer interested in the item, move on. If you feel like he wasted your time and jerked you around and ultimately backed out then leave bad feedback. Just be prepared to justify it and CYA.

Since you might be the sensitive type. Put your big boy pants on before reading further as it may offend you...

Are you always this needy? Creating a thread just to validate being butt hurt before a transaction has even taken place?

Maybe, he doesn't trust you. Maybe, he has better offers he's letting play out first. Maybe, I just don't care...

Feedback is to rate actual transactions, not for window lickers or accusations.

To put it another way: No money or goods sent + no public "I'll take it" = no feedback.

I'm not exactly sure where you're getting your info from. First of all, I had forgotten about this rifle already and moved on. Only last night did i get reminded of it and decided maybe other people in a similar experience could have sent payment only to get ripped off. That is why I made the thread, to see what others think.

Next, if the transaction is happening off the hide, why would an "Ill take it" be required? I can be selling an item on the hide, on Craigslist, locally through word of mouth, etc and somebody can contact me via text message about it. I suspect you don't know the situation entirely. All this was happening via text. The only reason why I even thought of MAYBE adding negative feedback was to prevent a negative outcome to happen to anybody else. If somebody could potentially do me wrong, I'd like to be made aware of that first.

Not mad, just sometimes the ol' hide comes out....

Still think this is like crying wolf to cast stones when nothing bad has happened and you have no proof that the seller is doing anything besides not jumping through hoops for what they believe to be another window licker... er window shopper.

Yet, my apologies for not being more cordial

You didn't send him any money, and I am not sure what your expecting the seller to do. It sounds like you wanted a relationship with this person, and didn't get it so now your pissed. If your that concerned about paypal don't pay with that there are other options which might be more secure, but sellers are trying to sell things. You really shouldn't expect them to go out out of their way with sending pictures of ID or long phone conversations. The time to leave negative feed back is after you have payed for something and didn't receive it.

Since you didn't get burned, I would move on and buy from one of the dozens of bonafide stand up guys on this site. Some buy guns more often than many change their socks. Another great deal is bound to come up, soon.

As for the photo ID, no way I'm sending that to a random dude on Al Gore's marvelous invention. I'll happily give a potential buyer my phone number and we can talk and answer all questions. If that doesn't put the buyer at ease, it's time for both of us to move on.

Not really expecting expecting a long conversation or to get to know anyone really. Perhaps you can post insight on what 2A friendly payment services exist. It's be really nice to know for future purposes.

I don't get the ID thing-doesn't the seller take to an FFL which sends to your FFL that you pick up from? The FFLs do all the work basically unless I'm missing something? Maybe you're your own FFL?

My FFL will require his photo ID. When he sends the firearm he needs to send a copy of the ID as well so the transfer can be completed on my FFLs part. This is done when the firearm is being shipped from an individual non FFL to the buyers FFL.

I was not going to ask for ID at all had everything gone smooth. I just wanted to talk the details over the phone, I do this with top dollar purchases. Just something very short and to the point.

You're smart to insist on talking by phone on a high dollar purchase. Most scammers don't want to speak by phone. They will give you every excuse why they can't speak to you. Must be afraid you'll detect their Nigerian accent. I've sold many high dollar items, and I encourage the buyer to give me a call. Most do, some don't want to. But at least I offer.

LOL now I see why the owner hates the PX, nothing really happened, 34 posts on the thread and the girls are pulling each others hair.
It's getting close to two page now of complaining about a transaction that didn't happen but it has a ways to go if it's gonna rival the painting steel targets thread. ;)

Cash and gold are both 2a friendly payment services. And in most free states it’s legal to sell directly to a individual. If buyer turns out to be a felon (or Virginian who refuses to give up his 2a) then buyer and only buyer is breaking the law.

No transaction = No feedback

Yes, some selling on here shouldn't be allowed to run a lemonade stand, much less sell nice things, but it happens all the time. Some ship with no coms whatsoever after being paid. Shit just shows up.... Insured... Signature required, and nobody's home.

That's when you leave feedback and you give others a heads up. But if nothing happened nothing happened.
Shrug and go.
