I like Neil Gaiman, I liked American Gods when I read it. This interpretation of that book had some overt imagery I didn't like and overall it wasn't bad, but I take note of anti-gun stuff when I see it.

You're saying you didn't catch those vibes when Wednesday meets up with Vulcan?

I know what your saying . I actually went and re-watched that episode again last night to maybe take a different thought on it .
I just did not interpret the symbolism of Vulcan trading (making deal) with the new gods for his forgot worship of Fire and the Forge . for new cult pop culture'ish' shallow worship with the new Gods, with him (Vulcan) and the power of the Gun, As being an Anti Firearms Vib. in that episode .

I think some of the writing in pretty killer and the (verbal ramblings) of Wednesday in that episode, along with several others are pretty profound . Some things are obvious, and somethings making you exorcise your brain some looking for meaning . and I really don't think they push one side 'New vs Old' as right or wrong.
also I see what your saying on the 'overt imaginary' and the overall symbolism with the new gods and the old Gods . Relationship with the 'New World' new settled USA. Old world forgotten gods, basic life wants of man, Respect, old worship, forgotten rituals, in-trade for favorable attentions . The new gods of the 'new world' with fast ever changing points of pop culture focus, superficial glimmer, mindless worship of the i-phone screen, ...etc.

It's totally packed with SJW propaganda and such, but it is still a great watch & very entertaining.
The show makes a lot of interesting points & observations about what people need & want in their worship & how it shapes both sides of the equation.
Yes the writers hate guns, hate Jesus, hate religion (except Islam which they adore), hate republicans, hate conservatives, however that pretty much describes the whole entertainment industry.

Which is why the current popcorn worthy everybody's long known sins suddenly being talked about is such great justice.

The heavily armed Christians decked out in crosses murdering the illegals, not to mention Mexican Jesus, with Vulcan's ammo at the start of the episode and Vulcan's whole town depicted in fascist overtones wasn't beating you over the head?

No, it not beating me over the head with Fascist overtones .

Along with the murder of a god Vulcan also later in that episode . I see that tying in with the opening minutes with the illegals doing the boarder crossing . Them being gunned down after them giving thanks to there ethnic vision ( Mexican Jesus ) , along with also murdering there Jesus .
It's all .. 'Murder in the name of God . ' Murder of illegals by the crucifix wearing defenders of a boarder, and of Mexican Jesus by self interpreted blessings of there god . Along with the murder of the old god Vulcan, in the name of god himself Odin ( Wednesday ) .

I do see where your coming from, but I really tried to walk into this writing/and Series with open mind and not branding a lot of current world hot political topics into interpretations . I am just not fixated with tacking political justice warrior or leftism's assault on Christianity to the written work of this .
I Just more like taking it back to the basics . God worship pre-Christian, mythology . The gods having influence over mortals movements threw life's journey . The poetic ramblings of meaning of life and death by god 'Odin' Wednesday, to looking thew the eyes of a Odin god of war and death, seeing murder of mortal human as just offering of sacrifice . It's just fresh entertainment and I just relaxing and having fun with watching it .
