Accuracy International Picture Thread

Hi Everyone, after spending a lot of time (and money) trying to make solid rifles out of stock Remington 700s I gave in and bought an AT in 6.5 CM. I had looked at MHSA's gunsmithing prices for truing, rebarreling, this 700 6.5CM I had and I said fuck it. I prefer shooting over fucking with (and being frustrated by) these 700's. It's not the 700's fault btw, it my impatience and learning curve.

So I drove up to MHSA, about a half hour from me, and Mike and the guys helped me pick this beauty out. She's wearing a Bushnell 4.5-18 Elite Tactical, which already had and liked (and which tracks), but looks small on this rifle. I also have a Griffin Armament brake, for when my Optimus Suppressor gets out of jail. I'm a photographer, but I couldn't be assed to shoot real photos of this, so it's just an iPhone photo for now. I'll post more later.

Took her to the range today (CRC). Zeroed at 100, got my drop at 200. And then went over to the high-power range to get dope out to 1000. First round hit on an MOA target at 600, got a few more rounds off, all hits, then the safety and trigger locked up. After stripping the bolt and cleaning and lubing it, it still didn't work. So I ran it over to Adam at MH, and he unfucked it in about 10 min. Apparently there was some crud in the trigger.

It shot really well with Federal Gold Medal 140 SMKs and I realized I can finally tell when it's ME fucking up and not the rifle! At 600 in 13-15 mph winds I got six POA/POI hits before it jammed up. At 100 I got the .48" group below (I only shot a few five round groups, all under .8 MOA). I could feel when I pulled a flier, and it was clear it was me and not the rifle. At 200 I 'pulled one' and was bummed, but as the picture shows it was still a .73" three shot group at 200.

In any case, love the rifle, and hope to learn to be a much better marksman now that I have no gear excuses. Now I get to do what I really like, going out and focusing on the fundamentals of marksmanship, not gear. Can't wait to take it back out tomorrow and get my dope to 1000.

I really dig the Pale Tan brown color, I'm pretty sure they guarantee 1/2 MOA with that color, so I've got that going for me.

Nice rifle. Thats what pushed me to AI's. Tired of putting rifles together, buddy shoots an AW that never has problems so went that route.

If thats an iPhone pic then you need to teach me how to use my iPhone.

I just use the 'portrait mode' in the iPhone. I also use adobe Lightroom for iPhone to process photos. I'm a photo geek...

yeah, got sick of buying parts, bedding, changing things, trying make things fit/work, etc. When faced with the cost of having Mile High do that work for me it made more sense to just buy a goddam rifle that already works. I justified it by telling myself: "I have expensive cameras, and I don't expect myself to be able to build them. I'm a photographer, not a camera maker." In the same way I want to be a shooter, not a rifle builder, better to let the people who know what they're doing build the rifles, and I can then just focus on shooting and getting better at shooting. I'm happy to now have a rifle that shoots better than I do, MUCH easier to focus.

Both my skin sets fit this same way, is this normal for an AIAT? Do any of you guys have gaps in your skins. I posted else where and got 50/50 on guys saying it’s normal vs. not... 47F2F102-7CC8-4771-8C9E-69BE2BBAB4FF.jpeg
