Survival/hiking sharpening stone??

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a good double sided sharpening stone to add to my Go bag/camping gear. I've seen the DMT double sided sharpener seen here: http://www.amazon.com/DMT-FWFC-Doubl.../dp/B00004WFTW

I love the idea behind the Bear grylls survival knife sheath/sharpener and the LMF, but really don't Bear's knife and don't like the LMF's sharpener.

I use a Gatco Triceps to touch up the blade, but really it depends on what you're using your knife for and the size of it. I'll sometimes carry a coarse Lansky stone or break out the file on the Leatherman to touch up a hatchet or large knife.

I've never been a fan of diamond sharpeners. They leave too much scoring on the edge for my taste on fine edges and don't work fast enough for heavy work. I just like traditional stone and steel.

    It's called a ROCK.

If you really need something, a small Arkansas stone works well.
