    AR uppers for a lefty

Hi All! As header says I'm looking for "lefty" AR's. Are there other sources other than Stag Arms? A good friends daughter is active duty and a lefty. She seems to have an aversion to wearing hot brass. Come to think of it my own daughter is a lefty and I doubt she likes it either. I certainly don't. Anyhow any info will be appreciated. Thanks Steve

If she's active duty, she's probably stuck with it. Is she really having a problem?

Like praharin said, if this is for on the job then she'll be stuck with a righty. If this is for personal use, the only one I know of is Stag.

nothing wrong with a Stag receiver--believe you have to use their

I believe DPMS offers a carry handle upper as well.
I built my 20YO son and my daughter's BF a pair of lefty .22s using Stag's upper receivers. It reduces anxiety about OOB discharges.

Thanks for the replies all! I believe this is for her own use. As she has been in for ten years I know she has learned to cope/qualify with the as issued AR platform. I believe some of her duty assignments are outside the mainstream so who knows. My thoughts are the girl likes to shoot so better tools.

Stag is the only lefty upper I know of. As a lefty myself, I'd rather shoot a right handed AR- the brass doesn't hit lefty shooters at all. Plus if you have a misfeed, you can see right into the breech and diagnosis it much quicker.

Tell her to stick with the righty AR.

Re: AR uppers for a lefty

If she is active duty it is a mistake for her to acclimate to a left handed weapon. She needs to use the issued weapon platform so there is no muscle memory confusion. I would recommend a completely non-altered weapon as her "off duty" rifle. I.E. Ambidexterous safety, large latch, ect should be avoided as these will alter her learned habits. I am left handed and understand her concerns but they are really minor issues.

Huh I'm a lefty and have no problem with my DPMS right handed rife. It throws the brass out and forward of my face every time. All rifles are different I guess.

Chicken Lady wants a lefty also. Stag will probably get an order pretty soon. Have to pay for Christmas first.

Re: AR uppers for a lefty

After giving up on trying to teach my wife to shoot right handed, I bought her a left handed Stag Arms AR. She is short also, so I swapped out the fixed buttstock with a LMT SOPMOD. Great rifle. I would recommend a Stag Arms AR as a good choice for a southpaw.
