    Bushnell Banner line

Does anyone have experience with the Busnell Banner scopes? I recently bought a rifle which came with a Bushnell Banner 6-18X 50MM. I've heard some generally good reviews, but as far as serious marksmanship, what say you?

    Re: Bushnell Banner line

First scope I bought was a 6 - 18 X 50mm banner for my .22-250. Was fine until I acquired additional rifles and scoped them with a Nikon Buckmaster and later a Burris Fullfield II. After looking through all 3 at the range one day, the Banner didn't measure up. The most noticeable difference was the loss in resolution out towards the edge of the field of view.

Don't get me wrong. They're decent for the price. I killed a lot of prairie dogs with that banner. Never dialed it up and down much for shooting at different range, so I can't speak as to its repeatability and return to zero after dialing back and forth.

If that's your price range, Banner is a good choice. If you can go up to a Bushnell 3200, or Nikon Buckmaster, or Burris Fullfield II, or Falcon, I'd recommend any of those. I still have a 4-12 Banner on another rifle.

I have the 6-24 on my Savage .22 mag (yeah yeah overkill )and I like it. It's a good cheap scope to have until you can get something better, but for me it serves its purpose on the mag. It is a javelina slayer for sure. I'm not sure how it would handle heavier recoil because like I said it has only been on the .22 mag.

I had the Bushnell Banner 6-24 x 40mm with mildot mounted on a .308 F class rifle. While it worked fine initially, I eventually found I had tracking issues, particularly with windage adjustment. probably would have been a great scope for a light varmint/.223 but the recoil of the .308 was too much for it.

I've since replaced it with a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 and have had no problems whatsoever.

I have a 6-18x50 from a few years ago. It was the best scope that I could afford at the time, it was used successfully for several years until I could afford very good stuff and I have an NXS on that 30-06 now.

The Banner still tracks reliably, although I've never had it run more than about 8MOA in any direction from the zero. With my 30-06 that was enough to get me out to the max distances I had to shoot at the time.
