    Roosevelt bull in velvet

Got over to the coast last week and came across a few Roosevelt elk. It was pretty dark back in the thick rainforest, and my camera didn't do real well, but took a few photos of a feeding bull and thought I'd share:

I think he's going to look pretty doggone good by September!

    Regards, Guy

That sure is a beautiful animal. How close were you to him when you took those pictures.

Are they bigger or smaller than a Rocky Mountain Elk?

That is truly awesome. Makes me look forward to elk season even more this year!

I can't wait to go elk hunting. Hopefully next year.

They are bigger in body but smaller in horn length.

Very nice, looks like maybe a 6x7. Bow hunting elk is an addiction, don't get me wrong I love my guns but there's nothing like being 10 yards from a big bull just before you stick him.
Good luck, post pic's if you get lucky.
