New Savage 10FCP-K 308 Aftermarket Tactical Stock

Hello I'm a newbie so don't crucify me for asking this question. I just picked up a Savage 10 FCP-K 308 today and was looking for and aftermarket tactical stock. The Choate Tactical looks tempting for my budget but most sites do not let me know if they will fit the newer Savage versions with the bolt release in front of the trigger gaurd. Does anyone have any experience with this actual gun and stock combo?
If budget allowed I would have a McMillan but lets not go there. Thanks.

Well when you find one...feel free to sell me that Accustock you have on your Savage right now!. I have a choate on my 110, but it's blind magazine. Hope you find the information you're looking for.

I might just do that. It still has the stickers on it. I can't wait to put it all together and shoot this puppy.

B&C also is popular. McMillan has A5s ready to sell for the savage in the specials area. try stockys gun stocks. try stockade. and find the google search for this site there are a bunch of posts with stock places

Thanks for the info. I tried all those sites already. The problem is the ceterfeed DBM, the 4.411 spacing and the bolt release. I really want a synthetic stock and not a wooden one. Choate told me with some minor gunsmithing I could drop in the action to their Tactical stock Model 25-06-02. They are backordered until June. I talked with McMillan and they said that I would have to wait 18 weeks for a custom stock, but they recommend thay I send in the gun so that they can do all the work required. I don't have %650.00 right now to spend on a McMillan A-5. Maybe I will have to save up. Whatever I happens I will tell you and show pictures when completed. It may take a year!

Re: New Savage 10FCP-K 308 Aftermarket Tactical Stock

FWIW, the accustok is an excellent stock, I find it too thin in the wrist, but it is a very good stock and you may find yourself wishing for it back after you put the rifle in the choate.

I have a choate tactical, it is an excellent stock with many nice features, it is not as heavy as the other choate stocks and they take paint really well.

That being said, since you already have a good stock, I would recommend that you just start saving up for a better stock. At least, a stockade stock, but think more like manners, mcmillan or XLR.

Sometimes patience really pays off. You will eventually upgrade that Choate, so you might as well skip it altogether unless you really do not like the accustock.

it fit mine just fine all you have to do is hit the trigger guard area with a dremel to widen it a hair then it fits fine

Thanks for the sound advice. I have been doing alot of soul searching over this and maybe you are right. I will try the accustock and see how it shoots and feels. Maybe I will like it enough to keep it. I understand what you are saying about the Choate stocks and I don't want to make a lateral move. If anything I want to UPGRADE. I have plenty of patience and I guess I'll wait for that McMillan or XLR. By the way, thanks for the XLR note. I never heard of them. They are quite good looking.
