Current, reasonable, price for a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .223..

Two or three years ago I bought a Rem SPS Tactical in .308 and am now thinking of buying a similar rifle in .223. I've managed to pick up some used parts for it over time, thinking of setting it up just like the .308 gun; an HS stock, Leupold Mark IV bases, SS 10X, etc., basic setup. I've adjusted the trigger, but would still like to replace it, along with a better-shaped bolt knob.

I know prices for gun-related things have fluctuated since my last purchase, so can anyone give me an idea of the current market price for the Rem 700 SPS Tactical in .223, and perhaps recommend a distributor that can ship one to my dealer?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd say 550-650 depending on your local market.

I live near DC., the shops around here are all overpriced. The local Dick's Sporting Goods occasionally has the "skinny" barrel, stainless, SPS for around $550, which seems a very nice price, but I prefer the shorter, thicker contour barrel. I know there's gunbroker, but was hoping someone here would know a decent dealer with good prices.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I was at a show in Syracuse NY recently. They were priced anywhere from 600-800.. I did see one of the limited run sps tactical fluted( like an ltr) for 599.. almost bought it.
It seems like at the prices they are getting you could be better off buying an ltr or similar already in a decent stock
    Good Luck

I'll have to check out Buds Guns! If comparably priced, I'll go for the LTR, but when I bought my .308 there used to be a good price difference, and to be honest, I prefer the non-fluted barrel.

How much would a barrel swap cost? Maybe I can find an older ADL or BDL on the cheap, or look into that stainless SPS at Dick's, and a take-off Tactical barrel...mismatched color wouldn't bother me as long is it shot well.

    Thanks again!

I picked up mine used (like new) with a Badger 20 MOA base for $550'ish in Ohio. Swapped stocks, bedded it, added my MK4-16X, threaded the barrel, PTG bottom metal and added a new bolt knob. It's a fun gun.

If you want to see the exact one your buying and want a good deal locally go to the chantilly gun show this weekend. Trader Jerrys will be there and has the the best prices you're going to find for a local deal. Or you can order online and shave off another $25 after transfer and all. I personally would rather see what I'm getting than save the $25.

Thanks for the heads-up about the show, but I just looked up Jerry's and they want $1129 (Remington 5 + 1 Special Purpose Synthetic Tactical 223 w/Hogue O) for the same gun Buds Guns is asking $617 for (Discount Guns for Sale - Buds Gun Shop). Sure, I'd prefer to handle the rifle I'm buying, but not that badly.

Cal50, I'll give you $551, maybe more if you flip those Warne QD over to the other side and line up the levers so they're horizontal. I would've bought that rifle in a heartbeat; your setup looks great, I'm also a fan of those rings.

So far it seems like a $617 is the best internet price, and I probably shouldn't even consider buying locally, unless it's used. Gunbroker prices are a little above Buds Guns, so thanks again Sweetyzfd for bringing them up. I'll do some more searching tomorrow.

    Cheers

Levers on the right is force of habit, Right handed and I always give the levers a "push" before I start shooting. They are really good rings IMHO.

Fun and accurate gun and you will enjoy it.
