This is my finished rebuild above kept action and everything else was replaced^^^^

On bottom was the original build but it was way to heavy with the choate stock and Mcgowen 26" bull barrel

Hello all, I am new to this forum. Well, any forum really. You've got my forum flower, Sniper's Hide. lol

Ok. Well I have only been in the long range scene for a couple of years and my girlfriend fell in love with my rifle so I bought her a rifle of her own. It is a Dick's Sporting Goods Savage Model 11 chambered in .308. I was just curious on what any thoughts are on it and how easy it would be to upgrade? it was only $550, so I thought I would get it.

Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Should be on the box...if not there, the tag or throw the serial number into the PartsFinder on the Savage Arms website.

yup, it was on the box. Didn't see it on the underside. I have been looking for a place where I might be able to find a bottom "metal" that is actually metal for it? Any ideas where I could find that? This model has a bottom bolt release.

The 11VT uses the crappy Axis-style DBM and magazines.

The steel Savage DBM is part number 106238 ($68) and the steel 308 magazine is 55105 ($50).

You might post a picture of the rifle's DBM & inlet to verify the steel part is a drop-in unit; the 11 Trophy Hunter XP uses the Axis-style DBM and it unfortunately is built into the stock and not swappable.

    I have a 10 FLCP-K 308 and what started as a 10 predator in 22-250

the flcp-k is now in a Choate stock, waiting to get a CDI bottom metal, with a Vortex PST 6-24 on top of it

The predator now has a 26" fluted bull barrel on it in a 8" twist in a laminated olive and black boyds tacticool, with the same scope and waiting for the CDI also.

I am collecting pieces for 6XC and 260AI and will just swap barrels. I think I am going to pick it up on the 6XC and pull the 308 barrel and get to shoot something a little less powder hungry. Also no Fclass around here to go shoot either.

I will get some pics up later. I do want to do a camo job and make the handling surfaces grippier on the Choate. I also need a aluminum bedding block for the tacticool, whe Whidden block will not work so I need to either call Choate and see if they will sell one of the ones out of there stock or I will have to make one.

As I am a left that is how I found the Savage rifles and have been thrilled with the accuracy of them.

I'm no pro photographer, but this is mine I got it last month and just got the scope (Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x50mm Nikoplex) last night. Muzzle break and bipod are next, cheek riser soon too.

    Newest addition:

    Caliber: 6.5 GAP 4S or 6.5 SAUM
    Action: Savage 12 Varmint
    Trigger: Rifle Basix
Barrel: Hawk Hill Custom 1 in 8.5", 27" finished length, Heavy Varmint contour (heavy as f#ck!)
Stock: Manners T2 (40% Dark Earth, 30% Coyote Tan, 30% OD Green)
    DBM: CDI
    Suppressor: TBAC 30P-1
    Gunsmith: Pendergraft Gunworks

It still needs Cerakoted in APA Sage and a new PSR BT47 Atlas bipod. Both of those should happen in late June.

Figured I could show ya what I have...sorry for the junk quality pics
Savage 10FLCPK in .308 and yes I know the bolt handle is on the "wrong" side.

This was right after I took it all apart and painted it. I think it turned out alright. When I put it back together I added a triad stock pack and a rear monopod. (I'm not sure I like the monopod because it requires me to run the Harris bipod extended all the way out to 9". Feels like walking on stilts.

    I also loaded some rounds...

    Hornady Match BTHP 168 gr.
    42 grains of Norma 203b
    COAL = 2.815"

I was shooting 0.5-0.7" inch groups at 100 yards.
I would have shot at 300 but it started raining.

    Onto the pics

Stock is now broke and searching for a chassis. XLR or Mcree..decisions decisions

Here is my somewhat budget savage build
    Savage 110 long action 6.5x55

    Ptg bottom metal
    Aics mag
    Boyd tacticool stock
    Egw 20 moa scope mount
    Miculek muzzle brake
Bolt handle on order from glades.
The trigger is custom made off the stock 110 three screw trigger, and a piece of knurled stock. Breaking just under two pounds

Rifle just got done yesterday, couldn't wait to share. Hope to pick it up this weekend (target pics to follow).

I see a lot of 6.5's built on savages.

Update from the above post. Finally got it out and shot it. Pics are of the first shots (6-10) through it. First five were sighting it in, running a brush through, and patching it clean after every shot.

I purchased the M12 F/tr in 308 Win years ago and recently decided to spruce it up a bit.

    It's now a 260 Rem.
