Custom Gun Coatings Camo Pics Thread

I have been painting stocks for Manners Composite stocks for some time, and continue to do so to this day. Recent changes have them outsourcing custom camos to 2 recommended vendors, On Target Customs (ARPredatorHunter), and myself. Each of us have independent styles, and methods, so the whole spectrum of camos is covered depending on your tastes.

If you are having a new stock built by Manners Composite Stocks, they can pass it off to me upon completion of the build (no shipping) for camo work, and I can ship it directly to you upon completion. Almost everything I do is done by the 1 week mark, there are some exceptions, mostly involving some other brands of stocks that require additional prep work before paint.

An additonal service that is included is basic repair work on your stock. If you're stock has a little nick here or there, I will repair it, and bring your stock to perfect condition. If you have a stock that has been really used, I can bring it to factory new condition. If this is something you're interested in, please let me know. Each stock is different, quotes vary based on several factors, email me for quotes please.

Some of these are a little older, but most are recent work. I invite anyone who's had me paint their stocks to post their work/reviews on this thread.

Not sure what exactly to call this one, 3 color dark desert perhaps?

Would love to do them, however I don't have an FFL, and getting one where I am now is going to be pretty much impossible. I live too close to a school, and that's a hurdle that I don't think I can get over, unless of course I had the money to bribe everyone that I needed to, and that's sort of illegal.

Hey Branden,
I'm liking the desert camo job better all the time.
I apologize for the poor picture quality. I'll try and get a better one soon.

Thanks!!

I have been wanting my stock done in a gap pattern for awhile now. How well does this finish hold up on a hunting rifle?

Fairly certain my shitty iPhone pics don't do Branden's work justice but here are a couple of quick and dirty snaps of a recent multicam of his. Worth noting he's a hell of a nice guy too.

If you're thinking about having one of your stocks done up in camo, I'd get on his list now. I suspect he's going to be getting real busy, real soon.

Did a restoration on this HS stock. It was pretty beat up, lots of nicks, scratches, and a big chunk from the bottom metal area. Cleaned it all up and got it back to new condition and painted a tiger stripe on it.

Re: Custom Gun Coatings Camo Pics Thread

It's a Badger Ordnance EFR night vision mount.

http://badgerordnance.com/night-vision-mounts/

Manners can inlet their stocks for the EFR mount, and the bottom half is glued into the stock for a solid permanent fit, and the top half is mounted after the action and barrel are installed.

A different color selection on the 4 color flectarn, use the brown instead of the green. I really dug how this one turned out.

5 Color Flectarn. I'm not really a huge fan of 5 color flectarns, but I know there are folks out there who are, so I post this for them. These require a little more planning and forethought to keep the layout better, I often have a written sketch to make sure I stick to the "plan".

pssst... hey, Short-bus... they're called videos. I won't tell anybody else

That is a badass paint job though. The digital patterns are definitely some of my favorites. One of these days I will get some paint or coating on my T5

No, it's not cerakote. It's a paint that's almost identical to Duracoat. I use a different catalyst, and reducer than Duracoat. Sprays better, cures up more durable (IMO), and has a better finish quality than duracoat.

At this time, no. I don't have the selection of cerakote that i'd need to do it. I don't like doing cerakote on stocks, I personally feel that paints like duracoat are better for applications on stocks.

Distance from a school is not an issue with the ATF as long as there is no local regulation against it. I thought that also but when an opportunity came up to move my FFL business to within spitting distance of a school, my local ATF inspector said no prob as long as:
1. There is no local ordinance restricting a business operating in that location.
2. All firearms leaving my premises and entering the "gun-free zone" surrounding the school are unloaded and locked in a vehicle's trunk or a locked case.

In fact, my first location was within 1/4 mile of a school and the issue never came up.

You're doing great work and if you think getting a FFL would move you to the next level, I encourage you to contact your local ATF office and see if it is really possible before dismissing the idea.
