Bench rest or match grade primers. Are they REALLY better than standard?

I'm actually doing range tests today between CCI200 & CCI-BR-2 primers. Here are pics of a 600 yard group and a 1000 yard group using a Thompson Center Compass 6.5 Creedmoor using the BR2 primers. The first is a 5.30 inch group @ 1000 yards yesterday. The second is a 2.19 inch 3 shot group @...

No of course not. The stock on the T/C Compass is terrible, it's a standard profile barrel so I had to space my shots out and pay close attention to the barrel temp. I've only had the rig less than a year so who's to say how it will hold up. My point is as recently as 10 years ago it would have...

Yesterday at Dead Zero 1000 yard range in Tennessee using a Covenant 7 and a Thompson Center Compass 6.5 Creedmoor I shot a 2. 05 inch 3 shot group at 600 yards with Berger Hybrid Target 140 grain OTM bullets loaded with 40.8 grains of H4350 with a coal of 2.626. This was my best of 3 groups...

I don't disagree and what I proposed was just a thought not something I've done. My point is I bought my scope from BPS (pic included) and it clearly states lifetime warranty. There were no disclaimers or signs, the sales counter guy didn't say anything about the warranty and I didn't know about...

Bench rest or match grade primers. Are they REALLY better than standard?

I live in Cookeville TN and I'm fortunate to have Dead Zero Shooting Park less than an hour's drive away. They have a 1000 yard range with electronic (shot marker systems) targets at several different distances including 600 and 1000 yards. Yesterday I took my new Thompson Center Compass in 6.5...

Well I know this is kind of dishonest but if I bought one and a year later the store wouldn't make a defect right then I would buy a new one, put the defective unit in a box and return it the next day.

Ah, my mistake. I knew the Covenant 7 scopes were on sale and just made an assumption.

You are very correct on that point! It shouldn't be so difficult to find and buy American made products.

Agreed. But they do have uses for things like cub scouts nature hikes etc. But using one to see your hits on a paper target even 200 yards away is impossible.

I didn't mean for my previous post to sound like an attack and I certainly respect your opinion. What's going on in our country is very disturbing to me and most likely every member of this forum and it really gets my blood boiling. I meant no offense.

I understand how you feel and why but as why you should care, that's huge! Our nation is under a liberal globalist attack right now! The power behind this movement are billionaires like Soros who want the U.S. Canada and Mexico to have an E.U. like arrangement. The reason for this is shipping...

When I first started to load for the 6.5 Creedmore the only powder I could get locally that was also in my manuals was superformance. I don't know about anyone else but I just cannot get consistent velocities from this powder! I also have a 6.5 Grendel and H335 was one of it's favorite powders...

I have 2 of the covenant 7 scopes in 5x35x56 and just acquired a 3x21x56 I noticed with my higher power models that the FFP version has slightly better glass. So when I went to BPS in Nashville I looked at both versions of the 3x21x56 model and once again the FFP version was a little more clear...

I am about to tackle 22 TCM reloading and wondered if anyone else has tried it and have any tips to offer?

Absolutely! I use a Lyman primer and love it although I would appreciate an adjustable ram. Sometimes I have a difficult time getting primers fully seated.

The covenant 5 in 6x24x50 has roughly 60 moa elevation and the covenant 7 in 5x35x56 on my RPR has right around 100 moa but it's on a 20 moa base so I would assume roughly 80 moa otherwise. This is how my particular scopes are. Considering the price range there could be some variation from one...

They are selling a spotting scope for the same reason they sell everything else. They got 5000 of them from some Chinese factory for $10 each and I guarantee they made a good profit from stupid people doing stupid things with them. Probably used for bird watching or something like that. They are...

I've actually compared the 5x35x56 Covenant 7 to a Athlon Helos 8x32x56 and the glass and field of view are quite a bit better on the Covenant. The Athlon had nicer turrets but that was it

No definitely not a Discovery scope. I bought a Discovery not long ago and the only thing I will use it for is to sweeten a trade deal so I can get rid of it. I have a Simmons tactical from Academy that's far better and half the price.
