Lightbulb Moving from NY to Nevada, what kinda things should Iknow?

Hey all, after living in this state for 25 years and starting to realize the cost of living, home ownership, property and state tax is INSANE on Long Island, also with gun laws getting just absurd, i've realized it's time for me to move elsewhere. A close friend of mine recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and all he can say is good things. Lower taxes, easier gun laws and regulations, nicer people, cheaper fuel, low cost of living and availability of jobs on the rise (looking ultimately to get into the IBEW). So upon talking and thinking for a while and some (not so easy to ignore) pep talks, this seems like the place for me. I love the heat, i'm a hard worker, I love exercising my 2nd Amendment Right as well as extending into long-range shooting, and overall I'm just looking to start over somewhere fresh. A good amount of my friends are considering the same move as I, so it'll be nice to know people there.

Basically all i'm looking for is some friendly info. Places to avoid, places to look into, local/state gun laws regarding carry, purchase, ownership, traveling with firearms to my final destination (do I need some sort of permit passing through other states? I'm sure I do) and just general info i should know!

Thanks for any info you guys can provide, every little bit helps.

BTW, sorry if this is in the wrong area!!

HA HA, Like the heat. Place is like a bake oven. There are some rough areas but during the boom there were miles of new houses built and they are not bad areas. I like smaller towns and would refer to the likes of Vegas as a shit hole. Not sure what you are used to, but I would not pick Vegas to raise a family, but that is me. I is a very fun place to visit.

So you want to leave a shit pit like NYC and go to NV because of the lower cost of living and better constitutional state laws and then join an organization that directly raises the cost of living/doing business and supports anti-2A activities via their financial contributions?!?

Gotta register concealable firearms in Clark county and carry a little blue card with you with the weapon. Most of the county is a "no shoot" zone, but get out of town 30 miles or so and its wide open BLM land and you can do whatever the fuck you want.

Remember, as you cross the NY State border into a friendlier state to honk your horn, and raise the middle finger to NY as you leave. Watch how many follow suit in your rearview mirror. When I left that sorry POS state and did the same thing, it started a wave of behavior back as far as I could see with truckers honking hors and waving the finger, cars doing it, it was awesome!

Please refrain from saying, "We did it this way in NY", "In NY you could XXXXXXX......." or, "This shit would never fly in NY, in NY we did it this way.....", believe me they don't care how you did it in NY. Don't bring any of the communist political ideas that are so prevalent in NY with you-don't do for NV what New Yorkers have done to NY. You'll do just fine.

You might think about northern NV where the population density is much lower than the Las Vegas area. It's also much more temperate and the Carson/Reno area is at the eastern base of the Sierras. We have large cattle ranches in the Carson Valley and it's much more rural than Clark County in the south. This weekend we celebrated Carson Valley Days and had a greased pole contest for kids among others. In Las Vegas the pole climbers would be topless bimbos, but what the hey?

You're right that the people in NV are nice, we moved here from CA a few years ago and it's the second thing I noticed. The first was my ability to buy an AR.

We like to visit Las Vegas for a few days at a time, it's a unique, fun place. Your skills and job prospects will likely decide between northern and southern NV for you. There is probably much more more union electrical work in LV.

    - The first five days after the weekend are the hardest.

No, the little blue card doesn't need to be carried (but yes, CC does have registration of handguns). As others have said, lots of freedom here - use it wisely and fight to protect it (and don't work for / support those that pay the antis). We just beat down a private sale background check / registration bill brought to us with a mindset that has infected our state (well, assuming Gov vetoes it like he said he would...). I raised a kid here - he turned out fine and he's off on his own beating down liberalism / antis at every turn.
